Sylvie Millstein is a modern woman in every sense: celebrated fashion designer and entrepreneur, devoted mother and wife, urban trendsetter. So it makes sense that her SoHo, New York, luxury apartment is also full of style. No one will be surprised with the stunning design pieces Millstein has chosen for her home decor.
“I spend an incredible amount of time at my desk,” says Millstein, who is the creative director and founder of the five-year-old designer womenswear brand. “I can have a full view of my home and enjoy watching my husband play with my kids, or work, or chit-chat with people coming off the elevator. I do everything here. It’s not confined like an office. It’s the center of the apartment.”
We love the colours chosen for the main room of the house. And once again the wall art is perfect as a decoration piece.
Her apartment is full of modern art paintings. These pieces of art are a crucial part of her entire home decoration. Get inspired.
Inspired by the simplicity of Japanese design, a theme that also runs through her refined yet relaxed pieces, Millstein sought to create a “clean, open space” that would serve as a “blank canvas” for her family’s vast collection of modern art (the Millsteins own pieces by Tracey Emin, Richard Avedon, Julian Opie, and more).
The decoration of her house looks simplistic from an overall point of view. However, you will find brilliant and beautiful details in every corner.
She enlisted architect Francis D’Haene of D’Apostrophe to recast the interior layout and decor with an eye toward stylish minimalism. “There’s something very powerful about something very simple,” says Millstein.
We are completely in love with Sylvie Millstein’s apartment. It’s an amazing interior design project which, by no surprise, is full of personality.
