The penthouse on the top of Zaha Hadid Architects‘ 520 West 28th in New York has been recently listed on the market for $50 million. Developer Related Companies have released photos of this spacious property and Home Decor Ideas couldn’t abstain from sharing it.
The residence occupies the final three floors of this 11-story luxury condo building and is listed for $50 million, which makes it the most expensive of the 39 condos inside the block that Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) completed earlier this year.
Its floor-to-ceiling windows grant broad views over the surroundings along Chelsea’s elevated High Line park.
The first two levels host a kitchen, an open-plan lounge and dining room, a library and five bedrooms. The third, even though slightly smaller, hosts a rooftop patio.
The overall finishes are simple throughout, including wooden floors and walls painted in muted hues.
One of the highlights is the mesmerizing, sculptural and white staircase designed by Zaha Hadid, the late architect who led the project. The curvaceous lacquered banister twists up and around a light well, drawing on the curvy forms of the metal window frames on the exterior, as well as past projects by Hadid.
The staircase is a complete showstopper and the star of the whole condo. It is the centerpiece that extends all three floors connecting its interior with the large outdoor terrace.

Zaha Hadid‘s projects are widely known for its sculptural staircases. However, this one is an evolution from the ones before, as it is designed with multiple perspectives that engage perception and draw the eye from the horizontal to vertical.
Hadid designed the sinuous white kitchen island with Italian brand Boffi. It also follows the rest of the condo’s style.
The penthouse comes with 2,552 square feet (237 square meters) of private outdoor space, which includes the top-level terrace that hosts an outdoor kitchen, dining area and lounge, as well as a series of beds for sunbathing.
The master bedroom also has a private balcony, along with a full dressing room, and a pair of bathrooms.
Residents will also be able to use 520 West 28th’s other amenities, including a skylit swimming pool, an IMAX theatre, and a bright gymnasium.
Zada Hadid designed 520 West 28th Street in collaboration with partner Patrik Schumacher, who took over as director of ZHA after her death in 2016. The building is the architecture firm’s first completed project in New York City.
